NEW: Culturally Appropriate Assessment Model (CAAM) Module

The interRAI Culturally Appropriate Assessment Model (CAAM) provides a framework for assessors when completing an interRAI Home Care assessment for Māori. It incorporates principles of, but is not limited to, tikanga, whakawhānaungatanga, and maanakitanga.

The CAAM is designed to ensure that assessments are not only clinically robust, but also culturally responsive. It acknowledges that culture profoundly influences how individuals experience health, illness, caregiving, and support. By embedding cultural awareness into the assessment process, interRAI promotes equity, dignity, and trust in support planning and delivery.

interRAI has recently developed a self-directed training module to help assessors familarise themselves with the above principles, empowering them to build cultural competence and confidence in their practice. You can find the CAAM module on your iL&D dashboard or by clicking here.
