COVID-19: latest updates

Tēnā kotou

Moving to Level 3

The move to Level 3 does not change the way we have been operating for the past month. Our sites remain closed and we will continue to engage as we have been, using technology to keep connected.

Preparing for Level 2

We are now actively preparing for Level 2 and how we will continue to develop and deliver our services as the situation changes. The safety and wellbeing of our people, stakeholders and customers is our top priority, so we are moving through each level with a robust safety and wellbeing framework in place.

Stay safe and well as we move through the alert levels. We will keep you posted, but if you have any feedback or questions please do get in touch.

Ngā mihi nui,
Michele McCreadie, General Manager interRAI services.

Remote training update

We were pleased to advise you recently that Contact Assessment training is now available remotely, as a package of self-directed online and directed video link learning. We are working hard to adapt more interRAI training, so it can be delivered remotely. Long Term Care Facility and Home Care Assessment training packages are in development, please check future newsletters for updates on this work. For any questions or concerns about training, please contact interRAI on 0800 10 80 44 or interRAI@tas.health.nz

Kotahi Two-to-one postponed

interRAI’s transition from 2 to 1 host sites, Kotahi Two-to-One, has been postponed.

This is a difficult decision that we have considered from all sides. We have heard your concerns that now, during COVID-19, is not the right time – especially for the aged residential care sector.

However, we remain committed to making sure Kotahi Two-to-One implementation happens in the near future. The project has progressed very well to date, and is set to greatly increase efficiency when it is implemented. We want to make life easier for you by completing this project, which means you will be hearing more from us about this in the near future.

National standards available shortly

2020 revised National Standards for Home Care and Community Health Assessments will be available for use next week. These are important documents that set out how assessors record information in note fields. Please check our website, and future newsletters for more information.

Guidance available - remote assessments

A reminder that guidance documents are available for remote assessments.

Contact Assessments may be conducted by telephone, unless the older person has significant hearing difficulties, visual, speech, language or cognitive difficulties (e.g dementia), or who speaks English as a second language. Conducting a Contact Assessment via telephone during COVID-19 is a useful option, if it suits the client and their situation.
Read guidance on completing Contact Assessments by telephone

Home Care Assessments may be conducted via video link in emergencies. If a home care assessment is required urgently during COVID-19, you may be able to complete this using video link (e.g. Zoom, Skype).
