Your employer usually has copies of the interRAI assessment manuals you need for your course.
If you are unable to find the manuals you require, extra copies can be purchased.
Please ask your manager to email interRAI@tas.health.nz to request these.
Check that you have the correct manual
For most of our courses, there are online training modules to complete either before your first day of training or during your training.
These are completed in interRAI Learning & Development (IL&D), our online learning system.
Please read your welcome letter and learning programme carefully and contact us if you have any queries.

All courses are delivered by distance learning. In some exceptional circumstances an educator may deliver training in person - please let us know if you require this.
The following readings are not compulsory but provide additional context to interRAI assessments for people attending training.
Contact Assessment training is delivered by distance learning over one day, with four weeks to complete the course.
Enrol for Contact Assessment training by emailing us at interRAI@tas.health.nz
Your allocated Educator will contact you prior to training and provide you with your login to the Momentum Production and Training sites and will support you throughout your training.
Once you have completed the initial training course, there are a range of steps to reach interRAI competency within the course timeframes. Please read the learning programme attached to your welcome email.
You will need to have a copy of your organisation/facility’s light blue ‘interRAI Contact Assessment (CA) Form and User's Manual’ on your training day.
Home Care assessment training is delivered by distance learning over two days with six weeks to complete the course.

This course is only available for competent interRAI Home Care assessors. Palliative Care assessment training is delivered by distance learning with four weeks to complete the course.

Once you are confirmed for a place on this training course, your educator will contact you to provide further information about the training requirements.
To prepare for training, please
Complete the eLearning module, Level One Advance Care planning, or your DHB's equivalent course (this is a mandatory pre-requisite for training).
Make sure you have access to the correct manuals. You will need to have a copy of your organisatons/ facility’s ‘Palliative care Assessment Form and User’s Manual’ and ‘Palliative Care Clinical Assessment protocols (CAPS)’ manual for training.
